Here is a yummy sangria guaranteed to bring sunshine on a cloudy day or be the belle of the ball at your next pool party.
1 bottle pinot noir or any light red wine
1 shot ginger liquor
1 shot spiced rum
1 cup orange juice
1 T chopped fresh mint
1 t orange zest
1 orange sliced
1 lemon sliced
Mix wine, ginger liquor, spiced rum, mint, zest and orange and lemon slices in a large pitcher. Fill glasses with ice and add wine mixture until 3/4 full, add ginger ale to fill glass, garnish with mint and fruit if desired.
Adding the ginger ale and ice to the glasses instead of the pitcher keeps the sangria from going flat and getting too watery.
This Halloween cocktail is a play on the traditional dark and stormy. It’s made a little more gruesome with a black sugar rim and gummy insects or worms. Make it a mocktail for kids and non drinkers by omitting the rum and adding some fruit juice.
The Dark and Stormy Cocktail
Black sugar (found in the cake decorating aisle at the grocery during Halloween season)
2 oz spiced rum (Captain Morgan, Sailor Jerry’s etc…)
6- 8 0z ginger ale or ginger beer
assorted gummy insects and worms (found in candy aisle at Halloween)
Take a highball glass and run a lime wedge around the top of the glass, dip into black sugar poured on a small plate or saucer.
Add ice, rum and ginger ale or beer. stir then add gummy creatures and serve.
I saw this post on Facebook this morning…
I thought perfect, now that the olympics are over, I needed something to do. Shark Week is starting today. Now I just need a drink to accompany it. I took the traditional Snake Bite (CIder and Lager mixed) and tweaked to fit the theme.
*Also great for a Sharknado Viewing Party
Take 1/2 bottle hard cider and a 1/2 a bottle of Beer (Lager) Pour into a pint glass. Take a gummy shark (they have them for $1 at 7-11s)and cut a small slit horizontally across the belly. Place on the rim of the glass.
Then if you want to go a step further and who doesn’t take red food coloring and drip about 3 drops down the side of the glass.
The food coloring will gradually turn the drink red, like blood.
Mocktail version:Try it with Apple Juice and Sprite or Ginger Ale for the kids.
